You’ll Need:

  • Paper
  • Pencil or marker
  • Printable step-by-step guide (grab it at the bottom of the page)

Step-by-Step: How to Draw a Snail

Step 1: Draw the Snail’s Body

Start by drawing a sideways L shape at the bottom of your paper. This makes the snail’s soft, slide-like body. Curve the bottom part a little so it looks smooth and comfy.

Step 2: Make the Swirly Shell

On top of the back part of the body, draw a big round spiral – like a cinnamon roll. Start with a circle and swirl inward to make that fun curly snail shell.

Step 3: Add the Head and Neck

At the front of the body, draw a small rounded bump going upward. This is your snail’s head. Connect it smoothly to the front of the body so it looks like one wiggly shape.

Step 4: Draw the Eye Stalks

Now the fun part – the eyes. From the top of the snail’s head, draw two long lines going up like antennae. Add a tiny circle at the end of each line for eyes. You can make the eyes big or small whatever feels fun.

Step 5: Add a Smiley Face

Give your snail a happy expression. Draw two dots below the eye stalks for cheeks or eyes, and add a curved line in the middle for a smiley mouth. Your snail looks so cheerful now.

Step 6: Extra Details

You can draw a few little lines on the shell to make it look textured, or add a trail line behind the snail to show it’s moving.

Time to Color

Grab your crayons, markers, or colored pencils and make your snail bright and fun. Use yellow and brown for a classic snail or pick rainbow colors to make it super cool. It’s totally up to you.

How to Draw a Snail – Easy Steps

Step 1: Draw the Big Shell

Start by drawing a large circle near the top center of your paper. This will be the snail’s shell. Try to make it nice and round, it’s okay if it’s not perfect.

Step 2: Add the Body Shape

Next, draw a long, flat oval shape underneath the shell. Stretch it out to the right, curving it up at the end to look like the snail’s tail. This is the body where the snail slides along.

Step 3: Draw the Spiral and Eye Stalks

Inside the big shell, draw a spiral that starts from the middle and curls outward. Then go to the snail’s head and draw two thin lines pointing upward, these are the eye stalks. Add tiny circles at the top for the eyes. And add face.

Step 4: Time to Color

Now bring your snail to life. Color the shell brown, orange, or even rainbow if you like. Fill in the body with a fun green or any bright color you love. You can even add a background with grass or flowers.
